I think life’s too short to try to learn it all yourself, and forever encourage people to learn from each other… so I’m sharing some of my key takeaways from the recent Business Growth Summit hosted by HerBusiness so you don’t miss out.
Some further takeaways on “influencing” from the interview with author Robert Cialdini. (Robert’s focus areas are human behaviour around influence and negotiation.)
When seeking to co-create a solution don’t ask for opinions, ask for advice as it creates more of a partnership role; rather than a critic you get a collaborator and the information is likely to be more constructive
Determine what the core feature of your offer is so you can draw attention to it before you make the appeal – it’s then on their mind before they hear your message, offer or call to action
For example,
First ask “Do you consider yourself adventurous?” before asking them try something new…
OR
Instead of asking “Would you like to buy some popcorn to support the Scouts?” First ask, “Do you support the Scouts?” and follow with “You can do so by buying some popcorn”
