I love Christmas, but equally love January… warm weather and a fresh start to a new year full of promise. Like many of you, for me January is a time for planning and getting set up for the year ahead. This year I made an important discovery… while I work with others to help them market their business, I realised I have not been practicing what I preach.
Many of us find we rely on referrals and repeat business, thinking that if we do a good job that will be enough. Sometimes it is, but more often it isn’t… and visibility (or presence in the market place) is such a funny thing, “you don’t need to rely on it until you need to rely on it”… for that reason it is best to get started on it before you need to rely on it.
Marketing is something that we are often too busy for or simply don’t know where to start, but it doesn’t have to be complex. The first important step involves getting clear on who your ideal clients are. Once you know this, you can determine where to find them and the best avenue to reach them.
Social media is such a fabulous tool for this, with so many alternatives to reach your audience and therefore… here I am... practicing what I preach.
